Understanding the Housing Recovery Plans

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 features an $8000 tax credit for first-time home buyers.  NEW:  Congress votes to extend the $8,000 first time Homebuyers Tax Credit and creates a new $6,500 tax credit for current homeowners buying a new home from December 1, 2009 to April 30, 2010.  The details of the Tax Credit plan are outlined here.

The recently announced Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan is a sweeping effort to stem the national tide of foreclosures and to help as many as 9 million homeowners stay current on their mortgages. Click here for a look at what the plan will entail and who will be eligible for assistance.
