The Village of Round Lake is located about 50 miles from Chicago, conveniently situated along Metra's Milwaukee District North Line. Round Lake is approximately a 50-70 minute drive from O'Hare. Round Lake Beach, population 25,859 (2000 Census), aspires to be a comfortable, family oriented community which provides a full range of public and commercial services to its residents. The Economic Development Department works to maintain and enhance the local economy and housing stock within the Village. Round Lake Beach’s reputation as a strong retail area will continue as property along the Rollins Road corridor and Route 83 is highly desirable for local, regional, and national developers and businesses. Round Lake Heights, population 2773 (special census 2006), is the community of choice for residents and families seeking a friendly, small community that offers a variety of parks and ponds with a peaceful setting. The history of Round Lake Heights started shortly after World War II and it became incorporated in 1960.
